The weak Euro exchange rate with both Sterling and the US Dollar has boosted Irish export competitiveness over recent years. Ireland’s exposure to currency fluctuations - arising from our high level of trade outside the Euro area, particularly with the UK - reinforces the need to maintain focus on domestically influenced aspects of cost competitiveness and to continue to diversity our export base.
